adaptive warrior camp

Indian Springs Camp, a 501(c)(3) organization provides a valuable service by offering outdoor programs that promote healing, connection, and personal growth for various groups, including children, veterans, first responders, individuals with physical limitations, and underprivileged youth. By creating opportunities for these individuals to engage with nature, the camp fosters resilience and well-being.

Additionally, recognizing the sacrifices of family members and encouraging their participation enhances the support system for those attending the camp. This inclusive approach not only strengthens familial bonds but also enriches the overall experience for participants, allowing them to share meaningful moments in a natural setting. Such initiatives are essential for building community and promoting mental health among diverse populations

Children's Camps

In 1985, the vision was to create a camp specifically designed for inner-city and underprivileged children. The goal was to provide these kids with an opportunity to experience nature in a way that they might not otherwise have access to. This camp aimed to make nature the focal point of its educational program, offering activities and experiences that would allow children to learn about and appreciate the natural world. Such initiatives are important as they help bridge gaps in access to outdoor education and foster a connection with the environment among young people who may not have had such opportunities before.

Indian Springs Camp was established in 1987 with the mission of providing underprivileged and inner-city children the chance to experience nature and develop life skills through outdoor activities. The camp collaborates with Big Thicket Preserve Park Rangers to offer programs aimed at positively influencing the children’s future development. In 1995, Indian Springs Camp became a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization under BRED CORP, allowing it to seek donations and grants to support its ongoing work. Despite these changes, the camp’s commitment to helping children has remained consistent since its inception.

Veterans, DISABLED CHILDREN, AND FIRST RESPONDERS

In 1998, Indian Springs Camp expanded its curriculum to include programs specifically designed for disabled children and veterans. With the support of Texas Parks & Wildlife, the camp introduced a hunting program that takes place over two weekends: Veterans Day Weekend (start of hunting season) is dedicated to hosting disabled veterans, while the following weekend focuses on disabled children. This initiative is funded through donations, emphasizing gratitude towards veterans and first responders for their service; and providing memorable experiences for the children. The program aims to inspire both groups by demonstrating that they can overcome challenges and pursue new adventures. Parents and spouses are also encouraged to participate, making it a shared experience for families.
